| About Me | "My strongest investment to the world is my body of art. It is not created to incite, but to unlock each person into their true spiritual selves. You are the experience!" Christopher was raised by his mother Mary E. Davis and his grandmother Sarah Davis in one of Mississippi’s historic "River Cities," called Natchez. He is a 2011 graduate of Alcorn State University with a Bachelors Degree in Mass Communication with emphasis in print journalism. Davis currently holds the position as the Communication Assistant in the Division of Media and University Relations at Alcorn State University. Also at Alcorn state he serves as advisor for Upsilon Phi Upsilon, Service Fraternity, Inc., Omega Tau Pi, Sorority Inc. and T.R.E.N.D. (Totally Recognizing and Embracing Natural Differences modeling squad). In November 2012, Christopher painted for the first time since 2005. It was an interpretation for the theme “The Abundance of Giving”, an event hosted by Greater Faith, a local church in Fayette, Mississippi. Throughout the 2012 season colleagues would ask him, “When are you going to start doing art again?” Seriously reconsidering art and drawing, the desire began to rekindle. Davis then made small promises to himself that 2013 would be the year that he would evolve and transform his life into a new era through his artistry. This era came to be known as the “The Artist Renaissance”. A colleague and dear friend to Christopher, Mrs. Felicia Harried, asked him a question one day. “When would you be ready to produce an art show; seeing that you’re producing quite often?” The two patrons conversed and developed a theme and scheduled a date. On Friday, September 20, 2013 the CMBK Art Show happened! The acronym CMBK is very significant to Davis. It represents his name with words that includes the true meaning of the name “Christopher Michael Davis”, Davis in particular. Davis is the surname for “David,” which refers to “King” David from the biblical era. Davis’ dual meaning is “beloved” and “Christopher Michael” well, that’s another story. Thus far, the has produced over 120 works of art since January 2013 until present day 2014; some of which were gifts to very special friends. Currently Davis is participating in the Lay’s Company “Create to Celebrate” Black History Art Competition (Feb) which he entered his first piece of the year &...(read more) |
