| About Me | I was born in 1956 in Holiknowe, Mississippi to parents who were sharecroppers. I fought my way from farm boy to scholar, helped power statewide politics, and opened doors for an entire community. I was defiance against remaining on or not returning to the plantation and thus became a rule-breaker of sought of the status quo, touching off the education revolution that has gripped my complete family for more than 50 years. Today I am retired after spending 38 years in the U.S. Federal Government and 34 years in the U.S. military, “….protecting the U.S. Constitution against all enemies; both foreign and domestic….”. I am an attorney with both an L.LM. in International Taxation and a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration (both with academic honors). I am also a CEO of a 501(c)(3) organization and a 2026 Candidate for the State of Florida House of Representatives. In my office I have a cotton burr hanging over a plaque given to me by my former organization of which I retired for hard work and dedication. When people ask me about the cotton burr I tell them the cotton burr represents my first job and the plaque represents my last job. As an injured veteran who served as a first responder in Saudi Arabia (1991), I also serve in a Pro bono capacity as Director of the Homeless Veterans' Program for the Mercy Foundation in Kissimmee, FL. Another of my past roles was that of Deputy Assistant Program Manager of International Programs for the U.S. Department of the Navy. I held this job since 2013. In this capacity, I managed the acquisition of U.S. Navy training flight simulators for international programs such as the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, SH-60 Seahawk, and the E2-C/D Programs for Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, France, and Japan, respectively. I have also managed the acquisition of U.S. Navy-Marine training flight simulators for the Presidential Helicopter Program (HMX-1). I have also served as a Public Defender in 2003 and recently as Director of Public Relations for the Golden Key International Honor Society in 2019 where I was instrumental in starting a "GoFundMe" effort for victims of Hurricane Dorian in 2019. Earlier appointments included work in U.S. Department of Navy (DoN) logistics from 1996 through 2013 and a position as a personnel management specialist in the DoN from 1988 until 1996. My academic background includes a Doctor of Philosophy (PHD) in Public Policy and Administration from Walden University where I graduated summa cum laude in 2012. I also hold a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Taxation qualification, cum laude, from St. Thomas University College of Law (2006). I also hold a Juris Doctor (JD) from the Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law at Barry University (2003). In addition, I hold two master's degrees, including a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Indianapolis and a Master of Arts (MA) in Public Administration from Webster University-cum laude. I earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in psychology from Aurora University and completed...(read more) |
