About Me	I spent nine years at the University of Georgia getting my B.S. and PhD., both in microbiology. I married my wife Bobbie while in graduate school. After college we moved to Corvallis, Oregon for seven years where I completed my post doctoral research at Oregon State University and then worked for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency directing research programs on the environmental effects of acid rain. Both of our children (Jennifer who is now 20 and a senior at the University of Georgia and Patrick who is now 17 and a senior at Tift County High) were born in Corvallis. In 1992 we moved to the Washington, DC area where I worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. While there I directed several competitive research granting programs and then served four years as the special assistant for science and technology to the Undersecretary for Research at USDA. While there it was my job to help maintain communications among all the research agencies within USDA and serve as USDA's technical liaison to the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. In 2000 we got the chance to move back home to Georgia. I am now serving as the Research Leader of the USDA Agriculutral Research Service's Southeast Watershed Research Laboratory in Tifton, GA.
