About Me	Ruth Brent Tofle is Professor Emerita at the Department of Architectural Studies at the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri. Following her PhD from the University of Minnesota, she received a post doctorate fellowship from NIMH, the ASID Environmental Design Award, and Fulbright Fellowships to China, Morocco and Tunisia. She participated in faculty exchanges in Thailand and Korea and was President of the Missouri Fulbright Alumni Association. Her research interests are in environmental gerontology and place attachment, historic preservation, and color. She has published and edited journals and books including Aging, Autonomy, and Architecture: Advances in Assisted Living, Popular American Housing, and Color in Health Care Environments. She is a Center for Aging Fellow, NCIDQ certified, a LEED Accredited Professional, and a Registered Commercial Interior Designer in the State of Missouri. Professional affiliations include IIDA, IDEC, GSA, EDRA, and Associate AIA. Current community service has included Chair of the Missouri 4-H Foundation Board of Trustees, Rotary Membership Chair, and City of Columbia Public Building Development and Finance Committee. Courses currently taught include Graduate Seminar, Design Business Practices, Guiding Design with Historic Preservation, and Color and Light. Dr. Tofle Chaired the University of Missouri Campus Facilities and Grounds Committee for 15 years. Professor Tofle was recognized as one of the 30 “Most Admired Educators” for 2013 as reported by DesignIntelligence.
