About Me	Lieutenant General Jack W. Klimp - Retired General Klimp graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy with a B.S. degree in Engineering. He also holds M.A. degrees in Public Administration and National Security and Strategic Studies. He is a graduate of the Amphibious Warfare School, the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, and the U.S. Naval War College. General Klimp served as a platoon commander, company executive officer and company commander of Company G, 2d Battalion, 1st Marines in combat operations in Vietnam. Subsequent command tours included two reconnaissance companies, a recruit training company, a recruiting station, an infantry battalion, and Task Force Mogadishu and Marine Forces Somalia during Operation Restore Hope. General Klimp has served as an instructor at the Naval Academy and The Basic School. His staff assignments include tours as an assistant provost marshal; aide-de-camp; recruit training battalion executive officer; recruit training regiment operations officer; Marine amphibious unit logistics officer; Plans Officer for the Combined Forces Command in Seoul, Korea; Assistant G-3, 1st Marine Division; Chief, Field Training Exercise Branch; Chief, Exercise Division; Operations Directorate J-3; and Director of the Joint Operations Center, U.S. Central Command during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. While serving as Commander, Task Force Mogadishu, during Operation Restore Hope in Somalia, he was selected for promotion to brigadier general and assumed assignment as the Commanding General Marine Corps Recruit Depot and Commanding General, Eastern Recruiting Region, Parris Island. His final command assignment was Commanding General, Marine Corps Recruiting Command. He was subsequently promoted to lieutenant general and was assigned as Deputy Commandant for Manpower and Reserve Affairs. Upon retirement, General Klimp joined Phoenix House in New York as Vice President and Director of the New York region and conducted drug rehabilitation programs throughout the city and the state of New York for both adults and adolescents. General Klimp returned to the Washington, DC area where he was President of GAMA, Gas Appliance Manufacturers Association. After leading a merger of GAMA with ARI (Air-conditioning and Refrigeration Institute, he led the new organization, AHRI (Air-conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute) as its CEO. Subsequently he became President of Second Genesis, a drug and alcohol rehabilitation nonprofit organization that treated clients in the Maryland, Virginia and Washington, DC areas. He next was President and CEO of the National Association for Uniformed Services, an organization devoted to the maintenance of a strong national defense and the protection of the benefits earned through service and sacrifice in the uniformed services after which he retired to Beaufort, South Carolina. Coming out of retirement to once again serve those who serve General Klimp became the President of the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, an organization that, in partnership with the Navy and Marine Corps, financial, educational and other assistance to members of the Naval Services of the United States, family members and survivors. Most recently General Klimp was the President Of the United States Marines Youth Foundation.
