About Me	Taught skiing in Vail, worked in the wine industry in San Luis Obispo, earned a BS in Biology, an MA in Creative Writing and a PhD in Literature and the Environment, and I moved to South Lake Tahoe to teach and write and spend time in the outdoors. I have published three books of nonfiction (a memoir, Almost Somewhere: Twenty-Eight Days on the John Muir Trail, a memoir in travel essays, Bad Tourist: Misadventures in Love and Travel, and a collection of lyrical essays, Animal Bodies: On Death, Desire, and Other Difficulties, as well as four books of poems.
