| About Me | I was born in the Chicago area. My Mom raised me, my brother and sister with the help of by Aunt Sarah and Grandparents. Now as a parent, I look back and now realize how hard it must have been to pay the bills and raise three kids. In high school I bounced around between different cliques. My friends were dorks and jocks, brainaics and band-geeks. Kids called me "Cobo" because it was more fun to say than "Bryant". I played varsity football on Friday, D&D on Saturday and tried to hack as much MS BASIC I could the rest of the week. I spent every free period in any computer lab they would allow. My friend Ron and I were both naturals with a computer. We had a minor rivalry that made us both better, I think. We both graduated from Streamwood high school in '95. I may not have gone to college if it wasn't for Coach Mac. Coach Mac was the football coach at North Central College in Naperville. He recruited me for NCC. I wasn't very good or fast. But, I was 6'2'' and 275 lbs. Luckily, being big is good enough for a division III school. (Looking back, I was a horrible office lineman - even by high school standards.) I met my wife, Paige, our freshman year at NCC. We started dating our sophomore year. At first I was a horrible boyfriend. But, she was forgiving and slowly I matured. After college I took a tech a job, founded a failed company, took another job and then started DocEdge. Paige was very patient and loving as I figured out what I want to be when I grow up. We were married in 2003. Two years later we had Sarah Rose. We juggled our time between dual careers and parenting. We realized that the lady at day care was spending more waking hours with Sarah than we were. We decided that Paige should be a "say at home mom". So, we migrated to Wisconsin. I'm glad we moved. Zoe Grace was born in January 2009. Paige is a great mom and keeps the girls busy. Paige is due again in March and soon, we'll find out if it's a boy or a girl. Part of me wants a boy to even out the household testosterone levels. Part of me want a girl because I know have experience raising little girls. I'll be happy either way. Recently, I opened a game store called Atomic Games. The previous game store, My Parent's Basement, was closing it's doors and I didn't want Manitowoc to be without it's game store. It's a great place for kids to spend their free time. And kids need a place to keep out of trouble. It's been a challenge, but I ha...(read more) |
