| About Me | Graduated from Western Michigan University in 1976. Was an educator in Chicago, Illinois for 25 years, where I met and married a wonderful man and "soul" mate, Johnnie Powell and have 3 really great kids; John Marcus, Kenya Joi, and Genesis Nia. We relocated to South Haven, Michigan in 1996, after having my "surprise" baby (Genesis) and worked as an educator and school administrator in Southwestern, Michigan. After the death of both of my parents, I took a job as a principal in Detroit, Michigan, relocating to Farmington Hills, and then worked as an administrator at the University of Michigan-Dearborn Campus for the Save our Children (SOC) program. In 2010, we moved to Lansing, Michigan where I worked at the Michigan Department of Education, serving as an Education Consultant for School Improvement and the State Reform Office, under Governor Snyder.
