| About Me | I like to believe that people in the long run are going to do more to promote peace than our governments. Indeed, I think that people want peace so much that one of these days governments had better get out of the way and let them have it. Dwight D Professional Quick Bio - I have been in the chemicals manufacturing and power industries since 1978, starting with Fluor Engineers, Nuclear Power Services, Pullman Power Products (Diablo Canyon Nuclear Plant), Filtronics (industrial and municipal water treatment design engineering and construction), Air Chem Systems (industrial, military and commercial negative air systems design and construction), Pump Systems (sanitary piping and pump systems design and engineering for the clean room, food, beverage, and pharmaceutical industries), then to UNOCAL (West Coast Facilities Chemical Manufacturing) as the West Coast Project Supervisor for the Technical Services Department from 1986 to 1998. I enjoyed the projects I created and managed within the three western states. When UNOCAL sold the division I was in, I moved back to California from Washington State. Since then I have had opportunities to try other occupations including working for myself as a Manufacturers' Representative within the wireless industry. But found the challenges were not the same as the chemical industry, and I realized I was on the road or flying > 50% a week to support my business. I had to ask myself what was more important: the money, or the family. (The family will always win!!!) My expertise is developing solutions to required process or mechanical improvements by utilizing the expertise of the SME's within their discipline. I enjoy developing a project team to address what is put before me, and to create a workable solution that can be completed in the field safely, effectively, and on budget. I am accustomed to working with regulatory bodies such as building departments, CAL-OSHA, OR-OSHA, WISHA, Department of Transportation - Federal Railway Administration, Coast Guard, FCC, FAA, and the Army Corp of Engineers. I strive to create projects in compliance with all regulations and rules: local to federal. A specialty of mine is to research, interpret, and apply regulations to our working environment as required. I have been a past member of NACE (The National Association of Corrosion Engineers) , APCO (Association of Public Safety Communications Officials), API (American Petroleum Institute), ASNT (American Society for Nondestructive Testing), ACI (American Concrete Institute), AWS (American Welding Society), AFE (Association for Facilities Engineering), ISA (Instrumentation Society of America), and I have maintained a Professional Member status at The Construction Specifications Institute ...(read more) |
