| About Me | "I turned 66 in 2017, and life continues to inspire and challenge. From the point of a career, I spent most of my professional life involved in emergency preparedness in the nuclear energy field. Since retiring in 2012, I picked up the occasional consulting contract in that field. However, life after retirement has afforded me the time to refine my perspective on who I am and what in life matters to me. Sitting out on my deck with a cup of coffee looking out over an open glade while my dog fruitlessly chases squirrels up trees, is a comforting way to begin my day for at least 6 months of the year. Living in Door County Wisconsin renews my love of the outdoors and appreciation of being close to big water. I enjoy boating when the weather cooperates, hiking when the knees are up to the task and writing when the brain sees fit to spark the neurons in the right direction. Since I live in a resort community, it's occasionally necessary for me to crawl under a rock between June and September and come out after the tourists' exodus to the south. Although children have not been part of my life, a collie and a cat help keep me centered. My love of travel has taken me throughout the continental US, as well as all of the major Hawaiian Islands and beyond. Favorite vacations have been Ireland in spring, Alaska in summer and winter in Norway. After being drafted in 1970, I lived in Germany for a year and a half. Except for two years in northern Illinois and a five year hiatus in Iowa, Wisconsin has been my home for the last thirty years (GO PACK!). For the most part, life has been kind to me, and it is my wish that you have been fortunate in life as well. To my best bud Barry Glaser; no matter how hard you try, you will never be a has been.
