About Me Autobiography of Russell Cecala Let me introduce myself. My name is Russell Cecala. I have been involved over 20 years in the noble field of Education. I began my career as an eighth grade Science and Reading teacher at Price Middle School in Atlanta. Next, I had the opportunity to teach and coach soccer in Henry County. During my tenure at Stockbridge Middle School, I was able to teach Science, Mathematics, Language Arts, Social Studies, Physical Education, and Foreign Languages to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. I was also able to begin a high school soccer program at Stockbridge High School. After, I was able to complete my master degree in Administration and Supervision; I served as Assistant Principal at Fort Valley Middle School in Peach County. My accomplishments included school improvement through the use of technology and the reduction of discipline referrals using the Accelerated Schools Project. After six successful years in Peach County and a successful year in Heard County, I was hired as an Educational Consultant for the Creative and Performing Arts Academy in Atlanta. The goal was to start a new private school with emphasis in the Fine Arts. One of my jobs was to create academic curriculum for grades K-12. However, due to insufficient funding the school was never opened. Last year I served as Instructional Mathematics Coach at Elbert County Middle School. My function was to provide teachers with improved instructional techniques using the Learning Focused Schools model and develop resources for teachers and students. I developed a hyperlink library for students based on subject matter. The results were that Elbert County Middle School made AYP in mathematics. However, due to budget cuts, the position was eliminated. Currently, I am working as a full-time substitute teacher for the Knox County Schools (Knoxville, Tennessee). I am seeking an administration position where I can make a difference in student...(read more)
