| About Me | I moved away from Newtown when I went to the University of Maryland (College Park) where I received a degree in Economics. Afterwards, staying here in the Washington D.C. area, I began a career in corporate finance. I've worked for EDS, Lockheed Martin, CA, a bunch of dot bombs and most recently EMC2. I've been happily married for the last 14 years to David McCarthy whose family members are long time Northern Virginian's. We live in Leesburg, VA with our 8 year old AKC Champion Golden Retriever “Jackson.” I have two step sons Brian 21 (attending the USMMA) and Matt 27. So, we just entered our empty nest stage. The rest of my immediate family has since left Connecticut. My father recently passed away, however, my mother continues to live in their house in Rockville, MD near Olney. She is retired and enjoys frequent visits from all her children and grandchildren. My middle sister Lisa and her husband Max live with my mother full time which makes life a lot easier on all. Lisa’s son Timothy Jr. (TJ) works as a computer administrator at Westat. My oldest sister Linda is a widow (her husband Steve died in 1998 of liver cancer) and lives in Ashton, MD with her 14 year old son Brian a gifted thespian. My brother Rick and his wife Mary live in Montgomery Village, MD with their bright and beautiful 9 year old daughter Sarah. And, my little sister Leslie lives in Jacksonville, FL with her husband Bryan and Labrador retriever Maggie. All in all, life has been good to the Sternchak's. We continue to grow, learn and love.
