About Me	I was in public education for 45 years and retired in 2007, from my adjunct position at UCONN. I decided I wanted to teach when I was in the third grade and had my first male teacher, who taught physical education. When I graduated from Natick High School, in 1955, I went to Northeastern, on the coop plan. In 1958, I married my high school sweetheart, Sherry Bryant. I spent two years in the Army Signal Corps, at Fort Monmouth, N. J. I started teaching in Groton, CT, in 1962 and became a principal in 1967. In 1969, I was hired to be the first principal of the Oliver Ellsworth School, Windsor, CT. I had the opportunity to hire the staff, equip the school and working with the staff develop the non-graded continuous progress school that became recognized throughout the U. S. for it individualized education, provided in a open area education environment. In 1974, I went to Watertown as a central office administrator and then on to Region 16 as the superintendent, in 1979. That was a marvelous experience as no superintendent has had the close contact and support that I had. My entire staff was wonderful and together we brought the Region together. In 1986, I began my tenure as the superintendent in Region 4 and retired in 1998. I then joined the UCAPP, administrative preparation program, at UCONN, as a field supervisor. In 2007, I retired from that position. Now I follow the Red Sox, Bruins, and UCONN, play tennis, collect Snoopy items and lecture on the Civil War.
