| About Me | My father was a career army officer. He returned from Viet Nam two months before graduation and delayed his reassignment to allow me to graduate from MHS. After graduation we left for his next assignment to Fort Belvoir, Virginia, south of Washington, D.C. I entered George Washington University in D,C. that fall and started working my way through college. GWU raised the tuition substantially every year and I had to drop from full time to part time classes and eventually to night classes. I figured it was going to take me too long at that rate so I quit, joined the Teamsters Union, and drove a truck for a year. This was back in Jimmy Hoffa's day and I made good money, saved most of it and transferred to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as a state resident . To make up for lost time I did 24 months of classes in 18 months, made Phi Beta Kappa and was accepted at Harvard Law School . After three years at Harvard Law I moved to Hawaii where I was a civil litigation trial lawyer for the next 18 years. Just because I wanted to and could, I decided to move to Europe and lived the next six years in the tiny country of Andorra in the Pyrenees mountains between France and Spain. During that time some friends and I bought a small freighter intending to use it as a mother ship for a salvage operation for two 17th century wrecks off the coast of Brazil. When the local naval base commander demanded a bribe we were not prepared to pay, we sailed away and put the freighter in service in the Caribbean. I returned to Andorra for my son to start attending the Spanish school system in Andorra (they have two school systems, one French and One Spanish). One year flowed into the next until six years passed. We did a lot of traveling around Europe from our base in Andorra. Eventually it was time to return to the u.S.A. To get my brain revved up again I attended Boston University Law School for a Masters of Laws Degree (LLM) in International Banking and Financial law. I did very well and decided to go for a PhD at the law school of the London School of Economics. I did not finish the degree and returned to the U.S.A to Austin ,Texas where I practiced law for the next ten years, primarily in corporate law and commercial litigation. I then retired. I owned a 72 acre ranch in Hawaii where I planned to live in retirement but decided to sell it after health issues arose. So here I am still in Austin Texas hoping to build on the three acres I still own in Hawaii and move back to Hawaii for the end game. As the years rolled by I morphed into a Henry the 8th dopleganger, beard and all. All things considered it has been fun -thr...(read more) |
