| About Me | I married my high school sweetheart, Bob Baker (class of 62/63), a year after graduation. I remember thinking and feeling so mature at the ripe old age of 18. It's funny, I didn't realize just how young and immature 18 year olds are until my children had reached that age! We will celebrate our 60th wedding anniversary in August 2026. We have four children, a daughter, Kelly (58), and 3 sons, Dave(53), Steve (42) and Jeff (41). Our daughter and two oldest sons are married and our youngest son has a very rare syndrome called CHARGE Syndrome. It is a multi-system syndrome (he is deaf/blind, non verbal and mentally challenged), and he has and will live with us as long as we are physically capable of caring for him. He is a special angel and we are happy to love, care, and serve him on a daily basis. We currently have 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, and consider each one a joy and a blessing. We lived most of our married life in Huntington Beach, Calif. When my husband retired in 1997 we moved to Preston, Idaho. (What? you've never heard of Preston? Go rent the off-the-wall comedy 'Napoleon Dynamite' - then you'll know Preston.) We actually lived 7 miles No. of Preston in a little valley called Riverdale. We loved it there for 28years. 1 1/2 years ago we downsized and moved to Cedar City, Utah. I have always been fortunate enough to be a stay-at-home mom. My husband and my children have always been my greatest joy & blessings. As my children were growing up I enjoyed being able to be involved with all their sports, activities and interests. Once our son Jeff was born, my life became busier as I became his nurse, and learning to care for his needs as well as the rest of my family. Even though I never acquired a college degree, I truly believe I have earned the equivalent of an honorary degree in Medicine, Education and Law. Because of my son, as his advocate, I've had to fight to make things happen for him, and help him become the best he can be. Because of him, I have grown in knowledge, and appreciate all I have learned, and all that he has taught me. We are active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and are indeed grateful for our Savior, Jesus Christ. For His sacrifice and His love for us. The Lord has been good to us. We are happy and have a good life. It is ...(read more) |
