Favorite School Memory	I really enjoyed high school. It's hard to say which was my favorite memory, but the most important one was a tragedy that God used for His glory. It was the automobile accident that Alan Chamness, Steve Collier, Jo Ellen Brown, Nancy Milliges, and I were in on the outsirts of Herrin on Saturday evening, 27 February 1965. The Lord called Alan's Mother Jane Chamness home to be with Him that evening. I had been fighting His call to preach since just before our freshman year in high school, i. e. specifically since 14 July 1962. About Me	I married the former Liz Bluff of Sparta, Illinois (SHS Class of 1968) on 28 September 1974. The Lord has blessed our ministry over the years. Although Marion Aldersgate UMC is my home Church, I was a good friend of the late Rev. Henry Clay Wright (Marion First UMC 1965-January 1972) and his wife Mary. I got to assist them on their pulpit exchange in July of 1971. The Lord also opened the door for me to serve our former Southern Illinois United Methodist Conference and our new Illinois Great Rivers Annual Conference as the Chairperson of the Committee on Annual Conference Sessions for six years. I also served as the Vice Chairperson of that Committee for three years and a Committee member for a total of 13 years. The ministry of the Committee on Annual Conference Sessions is to "Assist our Bishop in planning Annual Conference each year." This was a real blessing for me as well that brought into my life many new Christian friends and a wonderful opportunity for service in the Greater Christian Community beyond the local congregation. In July of 2001 Liz and I were able to be part of the World Methodist Conference in Brighton, England, and I renewed friendships with the congregation at Sutton Trinity Methodist-Reformed Church where I had served with Br...(read more)
