About Me It would take a long book, but I'll give some highlights. I left Mancos after my freshman year and moved to Texas where I finished high school. Then Elaine Simmons and I attended Fort Lewis College together in Durango. It was one day after class when we learned of President Kennedy's death and we wept with the rest of the student body. That year at Fort Lewis was special and I'll never forget the activities and fun we had and the learning experiences. At that time Fort Lewis was on a trimester schedule and I attended 3 trimesters before returning to Texas to visit before the next session began. While in Texas we learned my oldest brother, Norman and his wife had had an accident and I was elected to go to Alaska and care for their children while Norman's wife, Jackie recooperated. Fifteen years and 4 children later our family moved to Oregon where eventually my husband and I divorced and I raised the last 3 children alone. My life has been interesting and I have met a lot of lovely people and made a lot of friends. There is little more important than the relationships you have with the friends and family you love. I still live in the wonderful state of Oregon. There is so much beauty here to see and experience from the beauty of the high desert (where I live now) to the majesty of the Cascade mountain range (which I can enjoy the panoramic view from Mt. Bachelor to Mt. Hood), to the far west and the meeting of the Pacific Ocean. God has blessed this state with the whole range of fabulous sights and wonders. I sometimes miss the beauty of Colorado, seeing the LaPlata Mountains and walking out in the pinyons, going to visit Mesa Verde and clilmbing over the rocks and seeing the sights. But that was back in the days of my youth. I am older now and have slowed down. I'm more into walks on level ground, riding my bike on level terraine, and watching for the wildlife to come peeking from their hiding places. Even camping any more is different. I need running water, flushing toilets and a soft bed. Call me a wimp if you must. That is one of the good things about getting older, we don't have to feel self conscience about being a wimp! ! ! I am looking forward to retirement and maybe doing some traveling, but when I do I want to see the USA. I have seen a lot. I've lived in 7 different states, ...(read more)
