| About Me | After graduation, I attended Thames Valley State Technical College for one semester, then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in February 1970. I served as a Chaplain’s Assistant and Criminal Investigator (AFOSI for you Air Force folks) in Mississippi, Delaware, New York, Thailand, and Texas, while earning my associate and bachelor’s degrees. In 1978, I was accepted to Officer Training School and commissioned a Second Lieutenant as a Security Police (SP) Officer. I served in Nevada (Shift Commander), Massachusetts (Chief of Police Operations), and Texas (Squadron Commander and Instructor at the Security Police Academy, and Technical Training SP Staff Officer overseeing all SP training). I also earned my master’s degree and completed the Air Command and Staff College. I retired a Major in July 1991. Highlights of my military career include: the award the Meritorious Service Medal for coordinating and leading a search for a gravely injured airman, resulting in saving his life; selected to attend the U.S. Army Infantryman Officer Basic Course at Fort Benning, GA, earning the coveted Expert Infantryman Badge; and selected the 1982 Company Grade Officer of the Year for Hanscom AFB, MA. After stints as a Security Supervisor and Customer Service Manager for two manufacturing companies and Graduate Admissions Director for the University of Bridgeport, I landed a position with the Connecticut Department of Labor as a Veterans’ Employment Representative, retiring in 2014. In 2003, I earned my CompTIA A+ rating and started a home-based business, Major Bob’s Computer Repair. I enjoy playing golf and am an avid photographer. I’ve won state and national competitions conducted by the National Veterans Affairs Creative Arts Festival for multimedia, black & white, and color photography. My national bronze medal-winning entry, “Family Military Tradition” can be seen on YouTube. In 1991, I met Maria and we were married the following year. We live in Milford, CT. Maria is a retired educator, having served as a paraprofessional, Spanish teacher, Guidance Counselor, Migratory Program Coordinator, and Human Resources Director in both the Bridgeport and Greenwich school systems. We have a blended family of four children. Son is a 747-airline pilot, daughter is a neonatal nurse practitioner, step-son is a financial planner, and step-daughter is a senior art director. We also have four grandchildren. We live to travel. Our most recent adventures include Portugal, eastern Europe, the North and Baltic Seas counties, and the Greek islands.
