| About Me | What have I done since my days at Lafayette High? That is a good question. I attended the University of Kentucky for a number of years, graduating in fall of 1976. While attending UK and after graduation I spent much of my time working with a number of the Lexington area aquatic programs. I organized and lead the CKSC swim conference, coaching age group competitive swimming for a number of years. After graduation from UK, I became the victim of a standard occupational hazard for all lifeguards, an inability to hold my stomach in for eight hours a day!! I decided to make the next logical and related career move from being a lifeguard. I worked for IBM in data processing developing and supporting operating systems runtimes, compiler architecture and development, and application development tools with focus on interactive debuggers and other runtime testing tools. If I discuss my data processing career at any length, I will put all who reads this to sleep. Let's just say after thirty "long" years with IBM, I retired two years ago. Over the past ten years one of my passions has been owning and racing thoroughbreds. I have run and won races at Churchill Downs, Ellis Park, Turfway Park, Hoosier Park (IN), Charles Town (WV), Oaklawn Park (AK), and KEENELAND!! That is correct; I saddled, ran, and won at Keeneland!!! In recent years though connections/friendships I have made from horse racing, I have participated in the New York Broadway openings of a number of Tony nominated/winning shows. These include Hair, Spring Awakening, You're Welcome America, Speed-the-Plow, November, The Homecoming, Radio Golf, Talk Radio, The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial, Glengarry Glen Ross, Jekyll & Hyde. Desire Under the Elms, Reasons To Be Pretty. I was an investor in the Tony nominated and Drama Desk award winning play Gore Vidal's The Best Man featuring Elizabeth Ashley, Charles Durning, Christine Ebersole, Spalding Gray, Michael Learned, Chris Noth, and Mark Blum. During my IBM career I lived at times in Atlanta, Charlotte, and Saratoga CA, but I kept moving back to Lexington where I now reside. I have a second residence in Louisville near Churchill Downs. This assures that I have a good parking space and somewhere to "crash" when attending the Kentucky Derby each year....(read more) |
