| About Me | On December 26th 2010, I was admitted into the Northern Westchester Hospital psychiatric facility because I was suffering from various metal fatigues. During that traumatic and dark time, I was diagnosed with a mental illness. From that point on, I worked and to this day still work on accepting my disorder as a part of who I am (although not letting it define me), becoming comfortable with myself in terms of my disorder, and generally being as open as possible about said disorder. Because of these life-altering events, I have decided to pursue a career in the field of psychiatry and work hands on with mental health consumers. Mental health is now a pervasive, all-consuming passion in my life. I have never felt so fulfilled in my life as I do in the present having reached self-actualization. Besides treating mental health consumers, I feel an obligation to do away with the social stigma (clichéd, i know) attached to mental illness and help sufferers eliminate unfounded shame and/or guilt. This illness, in essence, has made me a more focused, goal-oriented, and well rounded human being. If you have any questions about my illness or anything concerning mental illness in general, drop me a line. No question is too touchy for me to answer. All my cards are on t...(read more) |
