| About Me | I was born and raised in Independence where I have spent pretty much all of my life. I married Steve DeFever right out of high school. We divorced in 2005. I went to ICC,and KU then graduated from Pittsburg State. I taught at the elementary level for 14 years, owned and managed the former Hille's Music - renamed Musical Overtures- for 17 1/2 years and lobbyed for small schools in Topeka for 6 years. I was on the local board of education for 3 years and then was elected to the State Board of Education. I found there are lots of nice people in Kansas.
