| About Me | My Only Son - James I was a warm Thursday night in Huntsville, Alabama. The date was November 19, 1992. I was staying with my daughter and son-law because I was getting married on November the 27th. I had spent the afternoon with James. We were shopping for a new pair of shoes for the wedding. We argued over a pair of shoes. He wanted the expensive pair. I finally gave in and bought them for him. He was only 18 years old. He was attending a Community College here in town and he delivered Dominos Pizza at night time and on weekends. I would always pray for him several times each day that God would keep him safe and he would come home every night. We had raised James and his sister, Becky, in a Christian home and we also sent them both to a Christian School. One day after school when he was in the 5th grade he walked in and told me that his Christian Teacher had led him to the Lord by accepting Jesus into his life to be his Savior and Lord. As the plane started to take off the engine began to sputter but Toby barely got the plane off the runway. It was night and as he began to climb he saw this big oak tree that was at least 100 feet high. He turned the plane to the left to avoid the tree, but the plane hit the very top of the tree, turned upside down, and headed nose down to the ground. James, Toby and Shawn were killed instantly. Mac survived with a broken elbow. We had a closed casket funeral because James’ head was so smashed in that we wanted to remember James the last time we saw him. He now lives in heaven in the hands of our Almighty God and I and his mom and sister will see him again. I have also lost a g...(read more) |
