Favorite School Memory	The year John Luke and I nearly burnt the football field down during the "The Burning of the Hâ€ We soaked the "H" in a kiddy pool full of kerosene for 5 hours prior to the lighting ceremony. If I remember correctly, the Student Body President, Dan Swiss, lost his eye brows when he touched the torch to the "H". It was incredible. The column of fire reached nearly twenty feet into the air. All in attendance cheeredâ€¦ meanwhile, Coach Leslie and Ms. Sorenson, the Student Government Advisor, ran out to the field to survey the damage. It was too dark for the people in the stands to seeâ€¦ but we had scorched a huge circle on the center of the football field. I was sure Coach Leslie was going to rip into us for burning his field the night before the homecoming game. He and Ms. Sorenson were both very cool about the whole situation. When we came to school the next day, Coach Leslie had painted a giant black football with â€œ2000â€ in white right where we had burnt the field. Each time there was a tackle on that spot, our players would come up with a black smear on their bleach white pants. Most people probably thought it was from the paint.
