| About Me | I enjoy spending time with family and friends when I'm not working. I enjoy discovering historical data, and learning new stories on Pomo's and statewide Neighboring Tribes. With this level of passion....I have long since accepted, that my life's work will be in honor of my people. Since a young girl, traveling and watching my father associate.... I have witnessed many events, and changes with Native American's which involved-Local Occupations of Land, Native Clubs emerging in our local colleges, Commodoties became accessible to Native City Residents, Native Non-Profits opened up and started serving Nothern California. I can't forget the memorable and most beautiful: Ceremonial Roundhouses were being erected where there once was no acceptance of the practices of an ancient way of life, culture and religion. These events over the past 30 years of my life eventually absorbed into the simplist realization, that in order for success to happen- we must continue the legacy that those before us have paved. It weighs on us as individuals how we will contribute to the cause and most importantly, our energy were refelcting while doing this work. To put it all in prespective means that I will contribute to preserving my cultural and to use modern day approaches to utilize funding and employment to work and help serve in Native Country. I am active and involved with my Tribal Governement. I strive to stand up for those who aren't aware of what's happening within our tribal affairs. I believe in clarity, feedback, open communication, while I despize immaturity and disprespect amongst tribal leaders. I hope for a day when tribal leaders can facilitate meetings that involve community council input no matter how silly or small or big the proposed subject is. A day when all voting members can interpret our Constitution and Bylaws. A day when our tribal members feel strong and confident enough to take a stand and not take" no" for answer, or give up that things can change. In my free time I enjoy gathering and preparing Abolone, Seaweed, Native Tea, and Pinny Winkles. I love going swimming and relaxing at the river. Hitting the pools and 12ft high-dives are the highlight of my summers. I enjoy traveling to different reservations and state parks. You can find me volunteering for just about anything throughout the year while I focus on trying to find reason in everything I do. Fundraising and helping out bring joy that money cannot buy. I learned that early in life. Cooking and hosting is an elective I wish I had more resources for and enjoy anytime I have to practice it. Last but not least...I also respect and admire greatly our heroes who have defended, advocated, lobbied, and just plain been there for Native Americans. They are probably here as friends on my profile. And while it sounds like my life is Only Native American...I cannot discount or dis-credit those organizations, politicians, lawyers, anthropologists, and friends throughout the State that collaborate and faithfully carryout there duties to work with Tribal Governments. We all belong to the Creator and must continue to fine tune that path. Last but not least, where would I be without my past..yes the many of you remember when my goals were alot different. Thanks to all my folks in the Rose that helped mold me into what I am. I will never take back the memories I have of all the good times, both sad and bad. We learn.....(read more) |
