| About Me | Grew up in Hampton, Virginia. Attended Duke University, 1967-1970, majoring in history, and then Johns Hopkins, to do a Ph. D. in American Intellectual History. Did not complete dissertation and changed field of interest to Family Therapy, starting an MSSW at Simmons, Boston and completing it at University of Tennessee, Nashville, l984. Practiced social work, child, adolescent and adult therapy, individual, group, couples and family therapy for 25 years. Married to Matthew Ramsey, a history professor at Vanderbilt; one son, David, 35, a writer and journalist in Little Rock, Arkansas. David's wife, Grace Mikell Ramsey, paints in oils and is into magical realism and paintings that celebrate women's sexuality. Retired, I sing, dance, and write poetry and non-fiction fictiously.
