| About Me | Worked a few years after graduating from Granby. Started on fine arts degree at ODU in 1965. Crossed the Atlantic on a German coal freighter (with several girlfriends). Lived in Europe 1966-67. Spent a lot of time in museums. Returned from Europe on another German coal freighter. Earned BFA in sculpture from ODU in 1971. Married, divorced, recaptured maiden name. Didn’t have any children. Owned small advertising/public relations firm off and on for a number of years. Also owned a small aerobics studio and taught aerobics for 17 years. Co-owned an aerobics studio in Washington,D.C. for two of those years. Met Jane Fonda and turned down a job managing one of her studios out in L.A. Decided to get a few real jobs and worked for several years for American Heart Association, Pembroke Enterprises and Westminster-Canterbury (in public relations). (Was still teaching aerobics on the side.) Became a Christian in 1986. Attended Virginia Beach Community Chapel, left to help found Spring Branch Community Church and now go to Essential Church in Virginia Beach. Ran a marathon in there somewhere. Oh, yes, it was 1999. Kept running but had some injuries so went back to teaching aerobics part-time. More injuries so took up walking and golf and swimming (was on the synchronized swimming team my last year at ODU - a well-kept secret and rightfully so). Got M.A. in Journalism from Regent University in 2003. Taught public relations, marketing and advertising as an adjunct at Norfolk State, Virginia Wesleyan and Old Dominion. Re-started freelance writing business at the same time. Joined Regent University as a writer in 2005-ish and after a few years became director of public relations. Now serve as senior public relations manager in the office of the president. Love my job and hope to work at least another 5 years. Swim 4-5 times/wee...(read more) |
