| About Me | I took the path less traveled and instead of college I followed the questions and followed my faith. I can't say it was easier, but there was no boredom! I married two years after graduation and this year will celebrate our 35th Anniversary. Our three children and grown and don't ask us for money!!! :) As you might recall, I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses... forever answering Bible questions in the hall at school for the "inquiring minds" that were my classmates. As you might expect... being nicknamed "the mouth" I did go into communications of all sorts. First, I sold real estate, then insurance, and finally stocks and bonds. All that "hands on" training prepared me for my next adventure as an Investigative Reporter. I had a chance to answer the question: "Why would two kids from the same family make opposite choices about drug abuse?" I was answering this question at the same time that I was raising three teens so it was perfect timing! This led to an opportunity to be a founding president of a community organization called Kernersville Cares for Kids and that venture helped me understand what "community" or common unity is all about. Fifteen years later, all this research led to my book "UNDER THE INFLUENCE: THE TOWN THAT LISTENED TO ITS KIDS. Now, I'm speaking about all of this nationally as it is a key and common issue in all communities. Recently, I joined National Speakers Association to once more place myself in a "learning environment" to better myself so I can better serve. I must say that even at the age of 55... life is NOT slowing down and is definitely NOT boring!!! I'm only hoping that I can keep up with all of the new opportunities and know when to say no!
