| About Me | Jim Ross Lightfoot, born in Sioux City, Iowa, in 1938, was adopted by a farm couple and grew up in Southwest Iowa. After high school, he served in the US Army from 1956 to 1968. He worked as an IBM Customer Engineer for three years and a police officer in Tulsa for one year. Lightfoot then became an announcer and farm broadcaster at KMA Radio for 19 years, where he earned awards under the stage name Jim Ross. From 1985 to 1997, he served as a US Congressman, overseeing over 40% of the Federal Law Enforcement budget. Later, he was VP of Forensic Technology, Inc. (FTI) from 1998 to 2002, helping develop a global standard in ballistic forensics. Lightfoot holds a commercial and flight instructor pilot rating with over 6,000 hours flying time. Lightfoot retired in 2002 and enjoys writing editorials, opinion pieces, short articles, and murder-thriller books based on his extensive experience with law enforcement.
