| About Me | As an unemployed, college dropout, Anthony frequently played basketball at the Hollywood YMCA with friends and mentors such as Denzel Washington, Arsenio Hall, Jerome Benton, Dorian Haywood, Ron Shelton, Wesley Snipes, Cylk Cozart and so on. Gathering at the YMCA was like family getting together to play ball and have a good laugh or fight. Everyone there was so down to earth and kind. You wouldn’t know that most of them had a problem with the simple task of walking through the mall without a large crowd following them. They loved the way he played ball and he loved being around such talented people. “I think being in the presence of such great talent was the blessing that lead me to actingâ€, says Hall. Hall's wiry athleticism caught the eye of a commercial casting director, while she was location scouting for a project. From then on, Hall averaged 12 plus commercials with companies such as Nike, Reebok, Gatorade, and Fila. In addition, Hall completed a 4-year campaign for Dr. Pepper with friend and Director, Michael Bay. Hall expanded his talent by guest starring in TV rolls on such shows as Moesha, Baywatch, LA Law, and NYPD Blue among others. Hall even landed one of the starring rolls on the USA Network show entitled Claude's Crib for a full season until its cancellation. Hall was cast in his first film, Blue Chip starring the great Nick Nolte. This film allowed Anthony to exhibit his talents and he was no longer judged on just his athletic ability. The critics called Halls performance an amazing and versatile piece of work opposite leading man Nick Nolte. Hall continued to have success as his career blossomed with countless films such as: Playas Ball, Fortress II, Gang Related, Sunset Park, Jerry Maguire, Space Jams, Virtuosity, Forget Paris, just to name a few. Hall took a break from performing in front of the camera to concentrate on writing films, which is his next journey in the entertainment industry. The writing bug hit Hall when he started creating with his best friend and NBA All-Star, Shaquille R. O'Neal. Hall came up with an idea to remake an old popular show The White Shadow. Shaquille loved the idea and Hall put the wheels in motion. Hall and friend Annice Parker pitched this idea around Hollywood and it landed at CBS. This was the start of a new career that Hall could really sink his teeth in. He has taken his talents to the next level by showcasing his writing talents through his first feature length script entitled “Qâ€. The story is inspired by true events that took place during Halls youth while growing up on gritty streets of Chicago's South side. Hall says, “My dream is to write, produce, and to create jobs in this industry for new young talent. I love the talent represented in film and television now but the viewers need to see more creditable roles for people of color. The talent is out there and I intend to find it. I want to be a storyteller that gives you more positive rolls than just thugs, pimps and whoresâ€. He gives thanks to Insomnia Media Group Producers Jeff Bowler and Bill MacDonald for helping him see his dreams through. The uphill climb is finding studios that share his dream. They all want stars in the film or it just will not get made. Hall says, "I’ll keep fighting so keep y...(read more) |
