| About Me | My wife, Kreina is an artist. I have three sons. Kalman (15) is a sophomore in at Northwest Yeshiva High School; Hunter (19) is a Freshman in the School of Architecture in Eugene Oregon; and Jeremy (41) is a professional drummer in Nashville. My Seattle household is also privileged to have our golden doodle, Daisy, as a member. After I graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1961 I attended Pacific University (Forest Grove Oregon) for one year, when I was accepted into the Peace Corps (Philippines VIII) as a community development worker. I lived for two years in a small barrio on the island of Mindanao, advising villagers on crops, livestock, and sanitation. I also conducted classes and seminars on the electoral process and democratic reform. I returned to the States in 1964 (I kissed the tarmac). I worked my way through undergraduate school at the UW, attending classes during the day and working nights in downtown Seattle at a hotel and a title insurance company. On Fridays I would ask my profs for the next week's homework assignments so I could do my homework on the weekends. I got my BA in 1967 in Political Science. I graduated from law school at the UW in 1970, and served on the Washington Law Review as Casenote Editor. During law school I joined the Army ROTC and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Signal Corps when I graduated. I transferred to the JAG Corps three years later. I served 27 years in the US Army Reserve, retiring as a Lt. Col. in 1995. In my day job I worked for the Washington State Attorney General's Office until moving to private practice in 1990. In the AGO I handled hundreds of child abuse and neglect cases for DSHS, and for two years was its lead trainer for caseworkers on the law of child abuse and neglect. I also handled many workers' compensation cases, medical disciplinary hearings, and personal injury claims. In private practice I handle mostly family law and personal injury cases.
