What is Roland Williams known for?

Roland Lamar Williams, born on April 27, 1975, in Rochester, New York is a notable alumnus of East High School. He is an American former professional football player who is best known for his time as a tight end in the NFL for eight years. Comprising an impressive career, Williams played for the St. Louis Rams from 1998 to 2000, the Oakland Raiders from 2001 to 2002 and 2004, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2003, and again for the St. Louis Rams in 2005. His career was unfortunately cut short by a knee injury in 2006.

Williams' football career was marked by numerous accomplishments, including his significant contribution to St. Louis Rams' Super Bowl XXXIV victory, achieving 114 Receptions, 1,004 Receiving Yards, and 13 Total Touchdowns. Outside of his career in the NFL, Williams has been lauded for his philanthropic efforts, earning a nomination for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award.

Despite a career-ending injury, Williams made a successful transition from sports to media, working as a sports analyst on numerous major networks including CBS Sports Network, ESPN, NBC, NFL Network, and others. Additionally, he made an impact on his community by launching the Champion Academy Extreme Mentoring & Empowerment Initiative, a mentoring program for at-risk students in his hometown of Rochester, New York.
