About Me	After receiving the Ph.D. in EE, I joined the University of Missouri, where I taught and ran a research program for 28 years. During this time I had the opportunity to live and/or work in 32 different countries on various short-term assignments. After taking early retirement in 1996, my wife and I moved to Christchurch, New Zealand, where I taught and was involved in several research programs. Upon return to the US I joined the faculty of Virginia Tech. In 2008, I joined the National Science Foundation where I serve as a Program Director in Communications and Information Foundations.
