About Me	“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” My name is Alex Heaton and this is my story... I grew up the Chicago suburb, Crown Point, where I enjoyed the sweet life of high school and all it's up and downs. When my senior year came around I made the choice to join the United States Army. In October of 2009 I deployed with 1-64 Armor to Northern Iraq, where I lived out of J.S.S’ and Checkpoints. Fast forward a year later I’m a Team Leader of 3 soldiers and preparing to deploy to Afghanistan. By January of next year I will be out of the Army and attending NYU, provided nothing changes. I can honestly say I have learned more about myself in these last three years then I thought possible. For Example, I suck with budgeting, a hopeless romantic but horrible in relationships, and a great friend. My three biggest virtues are Loyalty, Independence, and Responsibility. I have no idea what life holds for me but If it all ends tomorrow I can truly say that I’m a lucky man to have known the people I know, experienced some of life’s greatest and worst experiences, seen the most beautiful scenery and felt the greatest feelings. And anyone who is lucky enough to have had half of what I had should consider themselves truly lucky. I’m truly blessed to have had the friends I have, from my friends in Crown Point who stood by me when I hit rock bottom, to my friends from Georgia who taught me everything Crown Point couldn’t. And to my friends in New York who are a vision of what I want my life to be in the future.
