About Me "One of my most gifted former students, Alex Kramer, has continuously worked towards a solo career since his studies with me quite a few years ago. His accomplishments have been very impressive. I have had as former students many accomplished cellists who are enjoying a forward looking career. Alex Kramer is one of the very specially gifted heading towards a musical career of significance. He has my admiration and co-operation in seeing his talent awarded with positive results."-Bernard Greenhouse "Dear Alex, as a former student of mine, I see that some of the philosophy of my life's work has spread to your thinking. I wish there were more ready to help the young, and I shall continue in my own way to spread the love of music and the cello."-Bernard Greenhouse Alexander Kramer was born in 1968 in Vienna, Austria and grew up in Hannover, Munich, Barcelona, Caracas, Salzburg, Linz and West Hartford. While in high school Alex took part in the Mozarteum Summer Master Classes of Maurice Gendron and Antonio Janigro. Alex began his collegiate studies with Gordon Epperson in Tucson and finished his degree at Rutgers with the eminent American cellist and founding member of the Beaux Arts Trio, Bernard Greenhouse. Alex has held positions as principal cellist of the Greenville (SC) Symphony and Chamber Orchestra and assistant principal cellist of the Charlotte Symphony as well as being a regular extra player with the Atlanta Symphony. As soloist Alex has performed concertos and other solo works with orchestra by C.P.E. Bach, Dvořák, Milhaud, Fauré, Tchaikovsky and the world premiere of "Voice of the Wood" by the late Russell Peck. In the Spring of 2010, along with violinist Alan Molina and violist Carl St. Jacques, Alex formed Evergreen Trio. "I must say I'm quite happy about your new trio and pleased that the name has a...(read more)
