| About Me | Went to North Country Community in Saranac and received my Radiologic Technologist degree. Worked in Hudson and then Kingston before moving to Florida in 1981. Met my husband Ron at a state Radiology Conference in Orlando in 1983 and was married the next year ( our 35th anniversary this Friday ( Cinco de Mayo). Have 3 stepchildren, Brandy ( Oregon and have 2 grands and soon will have 3 greats) Dave with 2 daughters and Randy who passed away in 2017 with a step daughter and his two daughters. They live in Utah. I worked fulltime, went to college in the evenings and was team mom, score keeper for the boys baseball games. We did soccer and football games as well. Enjoyed camping, boating, waterskiing and travelling all over with the kids as they were growing up. Lots of moving for career opportunities for Ron mostly, but I benefited from this too. Lived on an Indian Reservation in Parker, Arizonia, had a 4 seater Dune buggy that we would go out in the desert to play. skiied alot out west. Moved to St. Louis Missouri while Ron went to become a Physicain Assistant while I worked as a MRI Tech at All Children's Hospital. Went to adult night classes to get my Bachelors in Healthcare Management. We moved to Clifton Park, NY in 1994 and was excited about being close to home for our 25th reunion but did not know about it, (;. Moved 1998 to American Fork UT to be close to Brandy and her children. Worked in radiology in a supervisory capacity and then went into real estate after a work injury limited my dominant arm. Prudential Rookie of the year. Best experience ever " volunteer at the 2002 Winter Paralympics in the cross country event. Seeing those atheletes with no arms, or legs or with blindness cross country ski on the most difficult terrain in the history of the OIympics was the " turning point of my depression secondary to chronic pain and loss of function/ job identity, and terrible weight gain. I found myself that week and am indepted to that experience and the empathy I can share with my patients. Motto... lifes downturns can be the most important education and opportunity to give back to others. I was able to overcome the disabilty and returned to Radiology in 2004 We moved to St. Maarten in 2002 as Ron went to Med School and I worked in whatever I could to pay the bills. Timeshare sales, real estate, property management, Med School newspaper staff, advertisement manager, assistant editor and contributing writer and newspaper publisher, and waitressing. Fun times with scuba diving, sailing and hanging out with friends. Then on to England for Ron's third year. I worked in radiology there after getting my British license and was able to pay for trips to Ireland, Wales, Scotland, Germany, Spain, Tunisia and visited cousins on my Dad's side in Switzerland. England had 5 weeks of vacation and lots of bank holidays and a 35 hour work week. Quite the cultural experience. We moved back to Florida in 2005 and have lived here in St. Petersburg since. Our longest stay in any place although we are in our third home. I went back to grad school after retaking a year of sciences to become competetive enough to apply and started my studies in Physician Assistant graduating in 2010 and started my new career at age 52. Never a regret except for the student loan.... love what I do as a neurology PA and work with a great group of doctors and support staff. Ron and I have been remodeling the outside of our home and when we aren't doing that love to go out in the boat, ride bikes, go camping, and I usually bring out my sewing machine ( 18th birthday gift from Mom) and sew for the great grandbabies or do crafts for Christmas time. Dad passed in 2013 and we moved Mom down here in 2014. We owned a small 6 bedroom ALF which we placed her in as we were still working fulltime. She made friends with the residents and had a ball with our staff. She passed away this past July 2...(read more) |
