| About Me | Even though I transferred to St. Andrew's Episcopal School in about 1969, I remained friends with a number of great people at Boca High. I keep in some contact with Bob "Swanny" Swanson, who has remained a good friend after all these years. I miss Scott Pokorney (RIP), and Mike Kerensky. After transferring to St. Andrew's, I took advantage of an opportunity to receive scholarship aid to leave high school a year early to attend Brown University, and then with scholarship aid from the US Army, I attended medical school, also at Brown. I met my wife, now of 47 years, while at Brown, and we have a great daughter, Kate, who married a terrific life partner, Farzad Sharafi, 8 years ago on the 4th of July. I trained in Neurology at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, then practiced neurology and neuro-ophthalmology for about 30 years, including 2 years as the head of the Neurology & Neurosurgery Clinic at Johns Hopkins Hospital. I retired a bit early, at 55, and took advantage of the opportunity to become a race car driver, driving in SCCA (amateur, high level), IMSA, and World Challenge (later SRO) in a variety of cars, including Corvettes, Boss 302 Mustangs, Porsche GT3 Cup cars, Porsche GT3 R's, and the Panoz Avezzano, in which my co-driver Matt Keegan and I won a national championship in SRO in 2020. An unfortunate accident in qualifying for a race at Laguna Seca at Monterey, CA in 2020 left me with 7 sequential vertebral compression fractures, which have forced me to give up racing. I still ride motorcycles on the street and race track, but not racing. I also enjoy power boating, and shotgun shooting in Skeet and Sporting Clays. If anyone has contact info for my good friend in middle and high school, Nancy Eyvonne Wildey, I would really appreciate receiving that information. Eyvonne and I shared interests in choir, as well as playing instruments, the piano for her, and later, the viola for me. Eyvonne was a kind, gentle and somewhat shy person, who dealt gracefully with family and personal challenges. I always treasured her friendship. My email address is PCALVER at GMAIL.COM . I also miss Gina and Laine Crago, hoping they may have forgiven me for a serious abuse of trust while I was staying with their family for a weekend while I was a boarding student at St. Andrew's.
