| Favorite School Memory | CHAPTER ONE: The student “Hey Hot Rod, always be proud of your Injun blood!” said my Dad. Then I went off to school. Kindergarten was not a prerequisite so off to 1st Grade I went. Fresh crew cut with Brylcream, wheat jeans, button down collared shirt complete with a fruit loop and penny loafers. Yep, we were poor but you couldn’t tell it by the way I dressed. I will never forget. The townsfolk always referred to me as my Dad’s “son.” Never did I have a first name, ever, even up till I left there or the older people died off. My Dad’s reputation was basically my first name.
