About Me	Life Let's see, what have I done??? Went to Case Tech and worked on my B.S. Married the love of my life, Rita Ippolito, from North Olmsted. Got tired of school and took a job with Carborundum Company as a technical service rep. Didn't like that so I worked as a Citroen mechanic while trying to regroup. Went back to Case and eventually got my B.S. in Chem. E. Then spent a couple of years working as a mechanic and taking Biology courses at BW. Decided Marine Biology looked better than Chemical Engineering. Got accepted for graduate school in Zoology at University of Hawaii. Loved it and spent 8 years enjoying the islands and getting my Ph.D. Got my degree in 1982 and left for the mainland and a cross-country trip in an old VW van with a mattress in the back with Rita. Did a 2 year post-doc at Friday Harbor Labs on San Juan Island (in the straits of San Juan de Fuca above Puget Sound) and at University of Washington's main campus in Seattle. Did a lot of diving and flying back and forth between Seattle and the labs in the director's sea plane. Went to Gatty Marine Lab in Scotland for my second post-doc job. Discovered a taste for single malt scotch. Took a job at Auburn University as an assistant professor in 1985. Discovered a taste for barbeque. Our one and only son, Robert Vincent, was born in 1987. Rita and I called the next 3 years the zombie years because he never slept through the night during that period. Life at Auburn was teaching my Vertebrate Development and Histology courses to very demanding premeds. Writing grant proposals and doing research on invertebrate larval nervous systems and coral reef symbioses. Lots of trips to the Florida Keys, the Bahamas, drives across the USA seeing most of the sights, more time at Friday Harbor Labs, diving, snorkeling, bike riding, and introducing Robert to all the exciting things life has to offer. Got a Dodge Stealth in 1993 and gave it to Robert on his 16th birthday in 2003. Drove our white van for a few years and finally got a replacement for the stealth last year - Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 Spyder -yes, I do love those sports cars. And I continue with the teaching, research, travel with Rita (and sometimes Robert), and have started taking flying lessons (gliders) this past year.
