About Me	After receiving a B.S. in mathematics from Manchester University (North Manchester, Indiana), I taught high-school math for a couple years at Belmont in Decatur and coached cross-country and track. Disenchanted with the secondary education enterprise (spending thousands on sports at the expense of academics), I joined the US Air Force and traveled to San Antonio, TX, Biloxi, MS, Okinawa and Italy during the next four years; also enjoyed jaunts across Italy and to Hong Kong, England, Scotland, Spain, Germany, and Greece. Upon my return to civilian life, I became a television engineer at WPTA-TV for a year and then a central office supervisory with General Telephone in Fort Wayne. Rather than operate the switching system, I decided it would be more interesting to design it, so I attended Purdue University and received a BS in Electrical Engineering in 1981 and an MSEE from the University of Michigan. I was employed at AT&T Bell Laboratories/Lucent Technologies/Agere for the next 20 years. When technology bubble burst in 2002, I found myself retired for a couple years until the health insurance premiums offered by my former employer became exorbitant. For the past two years I have been designing Lithium-Ion battery safety circuits and battery chargers at a small locally-owned company, MicroSun. I have been married for 26 wonderful years to Patty and we have three children, John (25), Christine (23), and Laura (21).
